Google Shopping management for online stores
Product ads in Google: image, price and store name shown before the click, so the click comes from someone who has already compared and is ready to buy. I set up Merchant Center, get the feed to a state where products stop getting disapproved, and structure campaigns so budget goes to margin, not to everything at once.
Setup from $1,000 · management from $1,000/mo · minimum ad budget $2,000/moWhy Shopping, not just Search
- You pay for intent, not curiosity. Image, price and store are visible before the click. People who find it too expensive or not what they want don’t click, and you don’t pay.
- Lower CPC. In most product categories Shopping CPCs sit below Search.
- Scale without keyword research. Google matches queries from the feed: 500 products, 500 query sets, no keyword list.
- Product-level remarketing. Visitors see exactly what they viewed.
Search still belongs alongside: brand terms, category terms, anything not in the feed. But for a store, Shopping is the base.
What’s included in setup
Merchant Center
- New account or audit of an existing one, domain verification.
- Policies: shipping, returns, contact, payment - everything accounts get suspended for.
- Reinstatement work if the account is already restricted.
Feed
- Generation from your platform: Shopify, WooCommerce, OpenCart, or XML from a custom build.
- Title optimization: brand, model, key attributes - what people search for.
- Merchant Center rules and supplemental feeds for attributes your platform doesn’t export.
- GTINs, Google product categories, custom labels for margin and seasonality segmentation.
Campaigns
- Standard Shopping where you need query-level control, Performance Max where there’s data.
- Structure by margin and bestsellers: separate budgets for what actually makes money.
- Brand exclusions so PMax doesn’t take credit for brand traffic.
- Dynamic remarketing on viewed products and abandoned carts.
E-commerce tracking
- GA4 with purchase, add_to_cart, begin_checkout and order value.
- Enhanced conversions, import into Google Ads.
- Dashboard with ROAS by category and product.
Timeline: 7-10 business days. Merchant Center review adds 3-5 days I don’t control.
Platforms I work with
Shopify, WooCommerce, OpenCart, custom stores via XML feed.
Why Google disapproves products
Most common reasons from audits:
- Price or availability in the feed doesn’t match the site.
- No return or shipping policy on the site.
- Images with watermarks, text or logos.
- Restricted category without required certification.
- Content mismatch between feed and product page.
- Missing SSL or broken redirects.
- Misrepresentation - account suspended for insufficient business information.
Most are fixed in days. Misrepresentation is harder, and I’ll say so when the odds are low.
Pricing
Shopping setup from $1,000. Management from $1,000/mo. Included in the Scale plan. Minimum ad budget $2,000/mo.
Google Shopping questions
Do I need Shopping if I run Performance Max?
Performance Max is Shopping plus every other placement. The question is control: Standard Shopping shows you queries and lets you bid by product, PMax doesn’t. Often the right answer is both.
What about a suspended Merchant Center?
Usually misrepresentation. I find what’s wrong with the site and account, bring it to policy, file the appeal. Separate work after the audit.
What’s the minimum catalog size?
20-30 SKUs makes sense. For 5 products, Search is the better tool.
Shopify or WooCommerce?
Both, via the native app or plugin. The details differ, the result doesn’t.
Do I need reviews?
No, but Product Ratings and Seller Ratings lift CTR. I connect them if you have a review base.
Do you work with feeds for multiple countries?
Yes - separate feeds and campaigns per market with local currency, shipping and language.
